5G Is the Cause of Wasteful HP Batteries? This is Telkomsel’s explanation

Telset.id, Jakarta – In the midst of the development of the 5G network in Indonesia, there is concern that the network is the cause of HP’s battery being wasteful. So how do the 5G provider operators, in this case Telkomsel, answer this issue?

Through the Selular Congress 2022 webinar on Tuesday (29/3/2022), Marfani as VP Network Architecture and Design Telkomsel, explained that in the early stages of the 5G event, the fast internet network was indeed one of the causes of cellphone batteries being wasteful and running out quickly.

The reason is because in the early stages of the fifth generation network it is still limited so that there is an intensive service transaction between the mobile phone and the network.

“Because it’s still early and coverageis still limited, transactions between end-user and network it will be quite intensive when using 5G. So maybe the battery will decrease much faster,” said Marfani.

Meanwhile, when the network is evenly distributed in Indonesia, the latest generation of internet services will not drain the battery smartphone 5G is running out fast.

“In the future, Telkomsel’s 5G network will be even closer, so it will be more battery efficient because there will be certain mechanisms in 5G technology that can save battery,” said Marfani.

This webinar also revealed about the development of Telkomsel’s 5G technology. In addition to holding in several cities in Indonesia, Telkomsel has also held many events show case 5G at national and international events.

For example, Telkomsel has held a 5G show case at the 2021 National Sports Week (PON) in Papua, the 2022 MotoGP in Mandalika, and the 2022 G20 Summit. It is hoped that 5G services can be better known and be an inspiration to the public.

Not to forget, Telkomsel and the Telkom Group are also building a network in the Capital of the Archipelago (IKN) in Kalimantan.

“We support the digitization of IKN and multi events such as MotoGP, PON Papua and the 2022 G20 Summit. Hopefully this show case will be an inspiration for the digital population in Indonesia and we are ready to collaborate,” said Marfani.

All 5G development efforts are not without targets. Marfani said that Telkomsel wants to be the operator with the widest 5G network in Indonesia.

“We are trying to become The Widest 5G Coverage in Indonesia. At least in 2022 to 2024 this is our goal,” Marfani hoped. (NM/MF)
