Anies Appeals Administrative Court Decision, Plaintiff: No Empathy!

Jakarta, IDN Times – The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, filed an appeal regarding the decision of the State Administrative Court (PTUN), regarding the dredging of the Mampang River to Pondok Jaya and the construction of the Mampang River sheet pile in Pela Mampang Village.

The Solidarity Advocacy Team for Flood Victims, the plaintiff’s attorney, Francine Widjojo, assessed that this appeal seemed to show that Anies did not want to accept the fact that flood management was not serious.

“We regret the appeal of the Governor of DKI Jakarta who seems unwilling to accept the fact that flood control is not yet serious. Pak Anies does not have empathy for his residents who are traumatized by being victims of the DKI Jakarta floods,” said Francine in a written statement, Wednesday (9/3/2022).

Francine, again reminded the flood incident that the plaintiffs experienced on 19-21 February 2021. At that time the flood height reached about 2 meters.

“Mr. Anies seems to have forgotten that flood control is a routine work of the Governor of DKI Jakarta, which doesn’t need to be reminded. Moreover, the residents were sued by taking a long procedure,” he said.

He also regrets that the former Minister of Education and Culture has dragged his own citizens into the court process. In fact, the facts are clear and clear.

“Now people are being dragged deeper into the court process, even though the facts are clear and clear. Residents just want the governor and his staff to be serious about dealing with floods,” he explained.

Previously, Governor Anies accepted the PTUN’s decision with ‘legowo’. Through an official statement from the DKI Provincial Government, Secretary of the DKI Jakarta Province Water Resources Service (SDA), Dudi Gardesi, said that various capacity building activities, namely river/river capacity building, were continuously carried out. Likewise with dredging, strengthening sheet piles and mud raids to minimize the impact of flooding in DKI Jakarta.

In addition, according to him, the problem of flooding in Jakarta and its surrounding areas needs to be handled and worked out strategically and in collaboration with other parties, such as the Central Government, and City/Regency Governments around DKI Jakarta.

“The DKI Provincial Government has carried out various flood control efforts, starting from increasing river/river capacity, rehabilitation of flood control facilities, construction of pump houses, construction of sheet piles, mud raids and river dredging. Everything is done regularly,” he said, Friday (18/2/2022).

3. The Natural Resources Service claims that there has been dredging even though there is no lawsuit

Dudi gave an example, the DKI Jakarta Provincial SDA Service has carried out dredging of Mampang River regularly every year, one of which is dredging work carried out in 2021 and continued since early 2022 using heavy equipment. Furthermore, the repair of the Krukut River sheet pile has been carried out from 2018 to 2021.

“So, in fact, whether there is a lawsuit or not, so far the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has worked on all the points that are the plaintiff’s demands. Some are still in progress in the field and some have been done. All efforts made by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in flood prevention are part of on-going program,” said Dudi.
