About 800,000 hectares of land in the province of Corrientes, northwest of Argentina, has been destroyed by the ongoing forest fires.
According to a report by Argentina’s National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) published on Friday (18/2), 785,238 hectares of land have been burned due to the fire. The area is equivalent to nine percent of the province.
According to INTA, the fires have affected a lot of wildlife in the northeast of the country.
Many animals were burned or poisoned by smoke, while others were run over in the streets trying to escape the fire.
Firefighters continue to carry out firefighting operations. [rd/pp]
