Becoming Host of Esports Championships, Indonesia Targets 2 Gold

Jakarta, IDN Times – Indonesia is ready to host the 2022 Esports World Championship. This tournament will take place in Bali in November 2022.

As the host, Indonesia will also field its best team. Unmitigated, Indonesia is targeting a gold medal in this event.

1. Aim to take home two gold medals

There will be six match numbers that will be held at the Bali 14th World Esports Championship. Indonesia has a big enough target in this event.

“We are targeting here from these six, at least two or three we should be able to get gold,” said the Daily Chair of PB Esports Indonesia (PBESI), Bambang Sunarwibowo, in an online press conference, Friday (11/3/2022).

2. Will donate to Sports Tourism

Bali was chosen not without reason to be the location for the Bali 14th World E-Sports Championship. PBESI hopes that this event can contribute to Sports Tourism for the country.

“Of course, in Bali, we want to see that Esports can provide a better development of Esports in Indonesia. By placing it in Bali, we can contribute as Sports Tourism,” said Bambang.

He also hopes that the esports ecosystem in the country can develop, because it will host the 2022 World Championship.

Secretary General of the International Esports Federation (IESF) Boban Totovsky said hundreds of countries were predicted to attend Bali during the 2022 Esports World Championship.

“Currently around 127 countries have registered, but technically it may be below that number due to limitations due to COVID-19. Around 150 delegates will also attend with more than 30 media colleagues,” Totovsky said on the same occasion.

Meanwhile, Bambang predicts at least 1,500 participants from 127 countries will attend the Bali 14th World Esports Championship.
