Borneo FC defeated by Persipura 2-1, Fakhri Husaini said his team deserved to lose

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Borneo FC coach, Fakhri Husaini, expressed his disappointment after his team lost 2-1 to Persipura Jayapura in week 28 of BRI Liga 1, Monday, February 28, 2022.

Borneo FC took the lead through Wawan Febrianto’s goal in the 19th minute. However, Fakhri’s team conceded two goals in the final minutes. Brian Fatari’s goals in the 86th minute and Ricky Cawor’s in the 89th minute became the deciding factor for Persipura’s victory.

“I feel by looking at the players’ performances, their determination is weak, then, too many free balls are given to the opponent. For us, it was not appropriate to win this match,” said Fakhri Husaini in a virtual press conference after the match.

“I also don’t understand why players lose the ball easily, even though we can coordinate well in defense. Of course this result is very disappointing with our poor result.”

Fakhri personally apologized to the supporters of Borneo FC for his team’s poor performance. He asserted, responsible for the results achieved by his squad.

After this match, the coach of Borneo FC will conduct an evaluation to improve the shortcomings in his team.

“I am personally disappointed with the results we got. We have started the game well by scoring goals,” he said when accompanying Fakhri in the press conference after the match.

“But this is football. The game is over in 90 minutes and we were good at defending compactly, but we were negligent in the final four minutes.”

Fajar is also determined to try to perform better in the remaining matches of the BRI Liga 1 season 2021-2022. “With the remaining matches, we hope to be even better,” he said.
