BRI Liga 1: Facing Persib, Persija Jakarta Asks Supporters to Protect the Club’s Big Name

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Persija Jakarta asked its supporters to maintain the club’s big name ahead of the BRI Liga 1 Indonesia match against arch rivals Persib Bandung. The match between the two teams will take place at the Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Gianyar, Bali, Tuesday night, March 1, 2022.

“Persija’s match against Persib is indeed one of the Indonesian derbies that is sometimes full of drama. However, I advise the supporters to keep the name of their respective clubs,” said coach Persija Sudirman in a virtual press conference, Monday.

The 52-year-old coach did not want the results of the match to affect the outside of the field.

Sudirman hopes that the supporters, both Persija and Persib supporters, will accept the results of the match gracefully.

Persija defender Maman Abdurahman said the same thing. Maman admits there is a rivalry between his team and Persib, but that is not an excuse for parties outside the club to be negative.

“Rivalry is just to raise the atmosphere of the game. Hopefully everything can run smoothly,” said the 39-year-old footballer.

Persija is chasing a target for the top three of Liga 1 2021-2022 and this makes Marko Simic and his friends aim for victory from all the remaining matches, including the match versus Persib.

Kemayoran Tigers are now in seventh place in the standings with 38 points from 26 matches, while Persib is in third place with 54 points from 27 matches.

Persija Jakarta vs Persib Bandung match will take place Tuesday night starting at 20.30 WIB with Indosiar broadcast live.
