BRI Liga 1: Persib Bandung More Motivated after Defeating Persija Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The victory achieved by Persib Bandung in the 28th week of BRI Liga 1 last Tuesday became an injection of enthusiasm for the Blue Prince squad to face the remaining matches at the end of the 2021-2022 season.

The result left them in second place in the standings with 57 points, three points adrift of Bali United who are at the top. With six matches remaining, Maung Bandung can still compete in the race for the Liga 1 title this season.

“This is a big win and a big step to get closer to being champions. Alhamdulillah, this is all for Bobotoh,” said Persib midfielder Mohammed Rashid, quoted from the club’s official website, Friday, March 4, 2022.

Persib won with a score of 2-0 over Persija. Playing at the Captain Wayan Dipta Stadium I, Gianyar, Bali, David da Silva bought up two of his team’s winning goals. The result was at the same time avenging the 1-0 defeat they experienced when facing the Kemayoran Tigers in the round.

Persib centre-back, Nick Kuipers, feels the same way. The victory was an additional motivation for him to be able to continue positive results for the next matches.

“Winning has given us the strength to be able to achieve our goals. Now there is only one way, which is to keep going up,” said the Dutchman.

David da Silva is also currently in his best form. Had difficulty scoring goals, the Brazilian striker finally found his sharpness again in front of the opponent’s goal.

In the last three matches, the player who joined Persib at half-time scored four goals for Persib. In total, he has scored five goals from 10 matches for Maung Bandung.

David da Silva has a good record in Liga 1 Indonesia. While strengthening Persebaya in 2018 and 2019, he collected 20 goals and 14 goals. In the 2018 season he was in second place on the top scorer list.

Persib Bandung’s closest match schedule is to face Persiraja Banda Aceh in week 29 of BRI Liga 1, Saturday, March 5, 2022. This match will take place at Ngurah Rai Stadium, Denpasar, starting at 20.45 WIB.
