Centratama Acquires EMA, Masters 9,000 Telecommunication Towers

Telset.id, Jakarta – Centratama Group is now the third largest telecommunications tower provider in Indonesia, after the acquisition of PT EPID Menara AssetCo or EMA, a subsidiary of EdgePoint Group.

Today, the company has more than 9,000 tower sites in Indonesia, including around 4,000 telecommunication towers that EMA acquired from Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison last year.

According to the President Director and CEO of Centratama Group, Yan Raymond, the company’s move to acquire EPID Menara AssetCo is the right strategic step to strengthen its position as one of the largest independent tower providers in Indonesia.

“Centratama Group continues to look for opportunities to expand our telecommunication tower portfolio by acquiring EMA,” he said, in an official statement on Monday (21/3/2022).

The acquisition of EMA was carried out by Centratama Group on December 30, 2021. The company signed a Conditional Share Purchase Agreement or CSPA with EMA and its shareholders.

The total investment is worth a maximum of USD 350 million or equivalent to Rp 5.01 trillion, plus the assumption of existing EMA debt.

Commenting on the acquisition, Suresh Sidhu, Commissioner of Centratama Telekomunikasi Indonesia and Chief Executive Officer of EdgePoint said that this strategy was carried out to expand Centratama’s next generation connectivity solution.

“This transaction will also make it much easier for us to cooperate with operators in the country,” he explained.

Through this acquisition, Centratama Group will also benefit from the main tenant of EPID Menara AssetCo, namely Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison with a long-term lease contract signed in May 2021.

Coupled with a total ownership portfolio of 9,000 towers, Centratama reaffirms its position as the third largest independent tower provider in Indonesia and strengthens its presence and ability to offer wider coverage to cellular network operators and the enterprise customer community.

On the same occasion, Centratama Group also announced that it has secured loan commitments equivalent to USD 850 million or Rp 12.1 trillion from a group of Indonesian and international domestic banks to refinance existing credit facilities, as well as provide further liquidity to support the company’s future growth plans. .
