Chronological Feed is back on Instagram, here’s how to activate it

Telset.id, Jakarta – Instagram feeds usually appear based on user preferences which are analyzed by IG’s algorithm. But now, Instagram offers a timeline feed format based on chronological order to users in the order in which they were posted.

This chronological format will be displayed in 2 different versions, namely Following and Favorites. The Following format allows users to view the chronological content of the accounts they follow.

While Favorites, the Instagram algorithm will choose the 50 accounts that users like the most, so the timeline will display the content of the 50 favorite accounts chronologically based on upload time.

As for activating these two options, you have to open the main timeline then tap the Instagram logo and choose whether you want to see the chronological timeline in Following or Favorites format.

Keep in mind that these 2 chronological formats do not change the timeline feed on the main Instagram page. So when you open the Instagram app, users still get a timeline based on preferences.

Meanwhile, to view the chronological format timeline, users must choose one of the previous chronological formats.

Although this format tends to be less practical, it is quite helpful for users who want to view the latest posts in chronological order.

Instagram Boss Fulfills Promise to Present Chronological Format

Please note that at the beginning of its launch Instagram provided a chronological format in the feed column. But in 2016 Instagram changed the timeline format based on user preferences with algorithm technology.

This format utilizes AI or artificial intelligence to measure user likes and interactions on the platform.

For example, when users prefer to comment on and like sports posts, the timeline will mostly show the same topics.

Then after almost 5 years of maintaining this format, Instagram will return the timeline to a chronological order format.

This was revealed by the head of Instagram Adam Mosseri during a hearing before a subcommittee of the United States Senate in December 2021.
