Condolences for 8 Telecommunications Heroes who died in the Peak of Papua

Uzone.id – The incident and gun attack that occurred at the B3 Repeater Site, Mulia District, Puncak Regency, Papua, killed 8 workers from PT Tower Palapa Timur Telematika (PT PTT) on March 2, 2022. This sad news was also conveyed directly by the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Johnny G. Plate.

“We offer our deepest condolences to the families of PTT workers who were victims of the gun incident and attack. The security incident at the B3 Repeater Site attacked 9 workers, of which 8 died on the spot,” said Johnny in his statement.

From Johnny’s explanation, the gun attack also caused damage to several buildings and physical infrastructure around the B3 Repeater Site.

The process of evacuating PTT workers, both dead victims and surviving staff, was carried out on March 3, 2022. The company also coordinated with security forces and various related parties in Papua, including paying attention to the security situation and local weather conditions.

“We strongly condemn the incidents of murder and acts of physical violence that resulted in the loss of lives of PTT workers and field technicians in the midst of their efforts to carry out the task of accelerating the distribution of digital connectivity in Indonesia, especially in Papua,” said Johnny.

Johnny also hopes that law enforcement and restoration of security can be carried out immediately by the authorities.

“We invite all elements of society to work together to maintain and create a safe situation so that the development of telecommunications infrastructure can be carried out smoothly in Papua,” concluded Johnny.

This sad news also received attention from the telecommunications company Telkomsel.

Through an upload on Instagram, Telkomsel expressed its condolences to the victims of the gun attack in Puncak, Papua.

“We offer our prayers and highest appreciation to the telecommunications heroes who died in order to provide communication services for the benefit of the wider community. May their deeds and worship be accepted by God Almighty and the bereaved families will be given fortitude,” wrote the @telkomsel account.
