Dozens Injured in High Speed ​​Train Collision near San Francisco

Several people were reported injured after a Caltrain commuter train caught fire after colliding with equipment on a railroad track south of San Francisco on Thursday (10/3).

The San Bruno Fire Chief, Ari Delay, told local television stations KGO that there was one victim who suffered serious injuries, five people suffered moderate injuries and seven others suffered minor injuries. All of the injured victims were passengers and Caltrain officers.

The accident occurred when a train from the south that departed from San Francisco at 10.14 am local time hit some equipment on the railway line in the city of San Bruno at around 10.38 am.

KGO reported that the fire that hit the incident site had been extinguished. However, rail traffic remains suspended. [em/jm]
