Dr Sunardi was shot dead by Densus, this is what the head of the IDI Task Force said

Jakarta, IDN Times – Special Datasemen (Densus) 88 Anti-terror Police shot dead Sunardi (54) related to the alleged terrorism case. The incident occurred in Sukoharjo, Central Java, Wednesday (9/3/2022) at 21.15 WIB.

Sunardi is known to work as a doctor who opens a private practice at his home. Head of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Zubairi Djoerban, expressed his condolences for Sunardi’s death.

“Inalilahi wainalilahi rojiun. My condolences to the family of the late doctor Sunardi,” Zubairi tweeted via the Twitter account @ProfesorZubairi, Friday (11/3/2022).

Zubairi considered the shooting incident to be a dark day. He hopes there will be justice for the shooting.

“This is a very dark day and hurts all those who believe in and hope in justice,” he added.

The head of the Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) of the National Police Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan confirmed that the Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) terrorist named Sunardi in Sukoharjo, Central Java, who was shot dead was a suspect before his arrest. He said Sunardi was shot for fighting the officers.

Later, Sunardi was known to be a general practitioner and registered with the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI).

Ramadhan explained that Sunardi was in charge of the Hilal Ahmar Society Indonesia (HASI) foundation. This group has been declared a banned organization for recruiting, funding and facilitating the travel of suspected terrorists to Syria.

“This foundation based on the 2015 Central Jakarta Court’s decision is a prohibited organization,” said Ramadhan.
