FA Cup: Jurgen Klopp to rotate players, Caoimhin Kelleher not playing

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Liverpool will face Norwich City in the fifth or last 16 of the FA Cup. The Liverpool vs Norwich City match will take place at Anfield on Thursday morning, March 3, 2022, Indonesian time.

From the material of players, Liverpool have a great opportunity to press Norwich City. Moreover, Jurgen Klopp’s team will appear in front of their own supporters and have just won the Carabao Cup. There is indeed an issue about the fitness of the Reds players after serving Chelsea with a duration of 120 minutes in the Carabao Cup final.

In response, Klopp said he would make a change in players. “We have to make changes because we have played for 120 minutes (against Chelsea). So we will see which players will play well,” said Klopp.

One that has been confirmed to be absent is midfielder Thiago Alcantara. He suffered a muscle injury during the warm-up session ahead of the Carabao Cup final. Next up is goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

Jurgen Klopp says the Irish goalkeeper is not used to playing 120 minutes. “There is no need to stress with the current situation. He will not go down,” he said.

While in the Norwich City camp, manager Dean Smith experienced a similar condition. Max Aarons and Brandon Williams are doubts at Anfield. Likewise with former Liverpool player who is now in Norwich uniform, Ozan Kabak.

“We have some new concerns. Brandon and Max haven’t trained since last time. Ozan is struggling with his shoulder, so it’s impossible to play,” said Smith.

However, Smith thinks there is still a chance for his team to change the game scheme with the opportunity to change five players. “There are a lot of things that we see. We want to choose a team that we think has a chance to win the game.”
