First Trial Case of US Congressional Attack, Suspect Proved Guilty

A man from Texas on Tuesday (8/3) was found guilty of involvement in the attack on the Capitol Building in early 2021. The man is known to have carried a gun in carrying out his actions.

The ruling was a major victory for federal prosecutors in the first of hundreds of cases of attacks on the United States Capitol that occurred on January 6, 2021.

The jury found suspect Guy Wesley Reffitt guilty of harassing police officers guarding the Capitol Building on January 6, 2021, as well as obstructing law enforcement by threatening his two teenage children if they reported him to law enforcement following the attack. [jm/em]
