First U-19 National Team Training, Shin Tae-yong Highlights Players’ Physical

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The coach of the Indonesian national team, Shin Tae-yong, gave physical training to the U-19 national team players who attended the inaugural training camp. The training camp will be held at the Madya Stadium, Jakarta, Tuesday, March 2, 2022.

Practice starts at 16.00 WIB and ends at 18.00 WIB. Before starting training, players undergo a warm-up session by running around the field.

After the warm-up, the players immediately received physical training led by a physical trainer, Shin Sang-gyu. It provides exercises to measure the maximum absorption of oxygen into the body (VO2 max) and cardiovascular fitness. “So today, it’s just a physical check and want to see what the intensity of the players has been,” said Shin Tae-yong.

In addition, the coaching team will also collect data until the World Cup in May 2023. “We will collect data for the physical development of players as well,” said Shin.

He explained that the coaching team was preparing roadmap so that the players are physically fit. According to Shin, there were many things that players had to improve on. “Starting from the opponents in the world cup, his posture is good, so you have to strengthen physically and mentally,” he said.

Meanwhile, PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan said the U-19 national team training camp was not only in Indonesia. The players will also train to South Korea.

“The plan is in Indonesia until March 7 or 10. When everything is finished, including the visa, I will go to South Korea to Daegu City where it is prepared there for a month and a half until April 15,” said Iriawan.

The U-19 national team is planned to undergo training camps in Gyeongsangbuk-do on March 13-24 2022 and April 24-10 2022 in Daegu. Later this U-19 Indonesian national team player will be projected to participate in the 2023 U-20 World Cup, where Indonesia will host.
