Jakarta, IDN Times – Freed from the Pondok Bambu Prison, East Jakarta, Angelina Sondakh decided not to return to the world of practical politics. He said he wanted to focus on taking care of his family. This was conveyed by the woman who is familiarly called Angie on her social media account, Monday, March 7, 2022.

“For now I will not participate in practical politics anymore, family is now the main focus. Thank you for your prayers and support,” Angie tweeted on Monday.

Angie’s tweet answered a public question asking what her next steps would be after she was released from prison. Previously, Angie also apologized to the Indonesian people for the corruption case that caused her to spend almost 10 years in prison.

“Angelina apologizes to all Indonesians for the actions that resulted in her having to be in prison for almost 10 years. She also said that her actions were not worthy of an example,” said Head of the Public Relations and Protocol Section of the Directorate General of Corrections, Rika Aprianti, on March 3, 2022. .

Meanwhile, according to the South Jakarta Class I Penitentiary (Bapas Jaksel), Angelina Sondakh’s status is not yet pure and is still under surveillance until June 1, 2022. Head of the South Jakarta Correctional Institution Ricky Dwi Biantoro said Angelina was required to report to the South Jakarta Prison every two weeks and was not allowed to do so. out of town or abroad without permission.

Angelina is known to have been behind bars since April 27, 2012 for the Wisma Athlete budget case that dragged the names of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Education and Culture. Based on the decision of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia No. 107PK/Pid.Sus/2015, Angelina was sentenced to 10 years in prison with a fine of Rp. 500 million, subsidiary to 6 months in prison.

He was also sentenced to pay compensation of IDR 2.5 billion and US $ 1.2 million, subsidiary to 1 year in prison. Angelina is said to have paid a fine of Rp. 8,815,972,722. However, he had to serve 4 months and 15 days in prison because he could not pay the remaining Rp 4.5 billion in replacement money.

While serving a prison sentence, Angelina got a remission of 3 months. This decade’s remission was also granted to all inmates.

The Directorate General of Corrections from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights said that the process for Angelina’s release was carried out in accordance with predetermined health protocols.
