Honor Magic 4 Series Launches at MWC, Powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1

Telset.id, Jakarta – Honor Magic 4 and Honor Magic 4 Pro launched globally at the MWC 2022 event on Monday (28/2/2022). The specifications for the two latest series are powered by Qualcomm’s latest powerful chipset, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. How much does it cost?

The Honor Magic 4 series is Honor’s latest flagship smartphone that carries high-end specifications, and is definitely fierce with premium specifications.

Like the chipset, it uses Qualcomm’s flagship chipset, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, and a 50 megapixel main camera. The smartphone runs the AI-powered Magic UI 6 OS, and is equipped with the ‘Just Say to Me’ function.

The Pro variant gets 100W wired as well as wireless charging, and features face unlock, along with a second-generation ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication.

Honor Magic 4 Pro runs Magic UI 6.0 based on Android 12. It features a curved screen quad-curved 6.81-inch Flex OLED with 1,213×2,848 pixels resolution, Motion Sync technology which automatically lowers the refresh rate from the highest 120Hz to the lowest 1Hz.

It comes with a touch sampling rate of 360Hz, a density of 460ppi, and an enhanced HDR Effect that automatically improves video quality from SDR to HDR, and HDR to HDR+.

Furthermore, this phone is claimed to come with the first LTPO screen with 1920Hz Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) Dimming technology.

For the kitchen, this phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, which is paired with GPU Turbo X Honor technology to support the first AI Super Rendering in the Mobile Gaming Industry. The chipset is paired with 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage.

In terms of cameras, the Honor Magic 4 Pro relies on a triple rear camera setup, consisting of a 50 megapixel main camera with a 7P lens, a 50 megapixel ultra wide camera. It can also be used for macro photography.

There’s also a 64-megapixel sensor in a periscope-style telephoto lens that offers 3.5x optical zoom, and a 100X digital zoom with optical image stabilization (OIS) and EIS features.

On the front, there is a 12-megapixel sensor with a lens that has a 100-degree field of view. There is a 3D depth camera on the side for facial recognition.

This latest Honor phone comes with an independent security chip, and a ‘Just Say to Me’ function which is basically an AI-powered privacy call feature to prevent sound bleeding while talking on the phone.

There’s an in-display fingerprint scanner, and a second-generation ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on the Honor Magic 4 Pro. This phone is IP68 certified which means it is dust and water resistant.

This smartphone relies on a 4,600mAh battery as a power source, which supports 100W wired and wireless SuperCharge technology which is claimed to increase power up to 50 percent in 15 minutes.

The Honor Magic 4 has the same display but with lower specs. The screen size is the same, but the screen resolution level is lower than 1,224 x 2,664 pixels compared to the pro version.

The difference is mainly in the camera. There are two 50-megapixel cameras paired with a 7P wide lens, and an ultra-wide lens that has a 122-degree field of view. The third camera is 8 megapixels and is paired with a 50x digital zoom lens. On the front is a 12-megapixel selfie camera.

The Honor Magic 4 has a 4,800mAh battery with the same 66W fast charging technology. This model is also dust and water resistant with IP68 certification. Connectivity options are also the same, namely dual-band Wi-Fi, 5G, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS, and a USB Type-C port.

Pricing and Availability

The price of the Honor Magic 4 Pro starts at EUR 1,099 (approximately IDR 17.7 million) for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage model. While the price of the Honor Magic 4 starts from EUR 899 (approximately Rp. 14.4 million) for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage model.

This phone is offered in Black, Cyan, Gold, White, and Orange color variants. Honor has not released any information about other variants and availability of the Honor Magic 4 phone in other markets. It is also unknown whether this cellphone will enter Indonesia. [HBS]
