Research shows that 2,000 mg of bitter melon per day is able to significantly reduce blood glucose levels among patients.

Bitter gourd is also able to lower blood sugar lower than metformin at a dose of 1,000 mg/day.

The researchers concluded that bitter melon has a hypoglycemic effect that reduces fructosamine levels significantly.

Another study published in Chemistry and Biology found that bitter melon can increase the cellular absorption of sugar from the blood and improve the body’s glucose tolerance.

Researchers at Malankara Catholic College also found that bitter melon compounds appear to have beneficial effects in controlling and treating diabetes.

However, they caution that clinical trial data on bitter melon in humans are limited.

If you want to eat bitter melon to lower blood sugar, it is better not to eat more than 2 melons a day.
