Tuchel confirmed midfielder Hakim Ziyech was still unable to play. The Moroccan had previously missed the Carabao Cup final on Sunday due to an Achilles injury.
“He still feels uncomfortable and wasn’t in team training today so he’s one of the players who will be out tomorrow,” Tuchel said of Ziyech.
The German tactician also said it was impossible to field defender Reece James after the England international played for a longer than planned period in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.
After playing 120 games against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final and failing to win the title due to losing on penalties, Chelsea’s players were given a day off. Several players are ready to return to play at Bedfordshir.
“The situation was very good before the final because only Ben Chilwell was out, but the situation changed dramatically,” Tuchel said of his team’s condition ahead of the FA Cup fifth round clash. “We have players with fatigue and some injuries from the game.”

“He’s been in brilliant form but now with a huge burden at his peak,” Tuchel said of James. “The recommendation was 20 minutes of play and it turned out to be more than 70 minutes with extra captions and pressure in the final.”
When asked about Mason Mount’s mentality after the midfielder squandered several goal chances in the Carabao Cup final, Tuchel insisted the England international was fine although of course disappointed.
“No one is to blame for missing opportunities,” said Tuchel.
With a number of players absent, especially after playing 120 minutes in the Carabao Cup final, Thomas Tuchel is expected to make many changes to the team during the Luton Twon vs Chelsea match in the FA Cup. Malang Sarr, Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku, have the opportunity to get playing minutes at Kenilworth Road tonight.
