Mitsubishi Trials Minicab MiEV Electric Car in Indonesia

Uzone.idPT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI) continues to make progress to create an electric car ecosystem in the country.

In the latest step, Mitsubishi has tested the Minicab MiEV electric car with PT Pos Indonesia, PT Haleyora Power, Gojek, and DHL Supply Chain Indonesia.

The collaboration between MMKSI and company partners will be carried out by carrying out a pilot study to test the feasibility of the kei-car class electric commercial vehicle in Indonesia.

Cooperation in the study and utilization of Minicab-MiEV with partners is carried out based on the common vision and mission of the company’s operational activities that lead to environmental sustainability without emissions, especially in logistics activities.

Under the terms of the MoU, MMKSI will provide one unit of the Mitsubishi Minicab-MiEV, the model currently being sold in the Japanese market for research and utilization.

The partner will use the vehicle for six months 1 in its logistics operations in the Jabodetabek area.

This study aims to understand and explore commercial EV applications, by verifying actual usage data, including mileage, charge history and delivery routes.

“This joint pilot study collaboration is the latest milestone in the continuation of Mitsubishi Motors’ commitment to accelerate the development of electric cars in Indonesia,” said Naoya Nakamura, President Director of PT MMKSI.

About Mitsubishi Minicab-MiEV

Minicab-MiEV, a commercial vehicle that uses fully electric power. This model has proven its toughness and reliability in Japan as an operational vehicle for logistics companies.

The Minicab-MiEV has stolen the attention of President Jokowi and Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang, as evidenced by trying to drive a Minicab-MiEV during his visit to GIIAS 2021.

Brief specifications of the Minicab-MiEV that will be used in this joint study are, 4-seater, 2WD. While the EV range is up to 150 km 2 with a battery capacity of 16 kWh.

The following are the main selling points of the Mincab MiEV:

1. BEV x Van: using BEV for operational purposes (including shipping goods), supports economy due to lower running costs, and supports ecology due to zero emissions

2. The best vehicle for narrow roads, with a small turning of 4.3 meters

3. Superior for steep climbs, due to the instant and strong torque of the Electric motor. With a power of 30kW (41ps) / 2,500 -6,000 rpm, with a torque of 20 kgf.m (196 Nm) / 0 – 300 rpm.
