O Digital Talents, Here Are 3 Skills You Must Master

Therefore, in order to grow 3.7 million new workers in the digital economy sector, collaboration between the government and the private sector is needed, making efforts for a culture of growth, making changes and innovations and also empowering communities to get involved and also contribute to the digital economy sector.

According to a report by Google, Bain, and Temasek (2021), the digital economy in Indonesia will continue to grow and reach USD146 billion in 2025, 3 years from now.

Lazada with the support of YCP Solidience conducted the Lazada 2021 Study which was carried out in the fourth quarter of 2021. From the Lazada 2021 Study, there were several findings regarding the digital industry in Indonesia, including regarding digital talent.

Dr. Ir. Mohammad Rudy Salahuddin, MEM, Deputy for Coordination of the Digital Economy, Employment, and MSMEs, Wednesday (02/03/2022) said that the potential for the digital economy in Indonesia is very large, but there are still some challenges, especially in developing the digital talent sector.

One of the findings from the Lazada Study entitled “Talent Development for Indonesia’s Digital Economy” are the 4 main approaches that can be taken by stakeholders to synergize.

The 4 approaches are alignment of the education and work ecosystems, ready-to-work talent development programs, sustainable business and career development, and inclusive and accessible training.

In addition, the Lazada 2021 study also found 3 key skills that Indonesian digital talent candidates need to master in facing digital economic growth.

The first is Social Skills (Social Skills): skills to have the mindset to adapt, think critically and analytically.

The second, Digital Skills (Digital Skills): complex digital skills will continue to be required by industry to accelerate efficiency due to data-driven decision making (data driven decision-making) becomes more relevant.

The third, Business Driving Skills (Business Enabler Skills): skills to develop a strong and flexible business mindset. This becomes a fundamental skill for every talent as the business world continues to evolve.
