Often Underestimated, Recognize Endometriosis Causes Severe Pain During Menstruation

Suara.com – Menstruation or menstruation is a common thing experienced by women every month. However, some women often feel severe pain in the abdomen during menstruation.

Unfortunately, the problem of severe menstrual pain is often considered normal and even trivial and is often ignored. Though the pain can be one of the causes of endometriosis.

Dr. M. Luky Satria, Sp.OG – KFER, a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Indonesian Child Fertility Center, said endometriosis is a condition where endometrial tissue or the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus.

“The place that should be in the uterus, but it grows outside the uterus, like uterine muscle. That’s called endometriosis. Endometriosis is a progressive disease, if not treated properly, endometriosis will get worse,” he was quoted as saying in a press release, Wednesday. (23/3/2022).

A person who has endometriosis will experience severe pain during menstruation. However, for some people, it is natural and does not need to be exaggerated.

“Menstrual pain is the most commonly known symptom of endometriosis. The problem is, ordinary people think that excessive menstrual pain is normal. Well, what’s even worse is that if your period ends up skipping work, not going to school, and so on, it’s even considered lazy or drama queens.”

“Even though he is really sick, it’s just because it’s considered normal so he doesn’t go to the doctor. Awareness like that must be increased,” added dr. Luke again.

Furthermore, he said how menstrual pain should not be underestimated and ignored. Therefore, the Indonesian Boy Fertility Center launched an endometriosis package, specifically for women who have endometriosis.

The purpose of this basic examination is for women to be more concerned about the causes of excessive menstrual pain and to be able to deal with it early on.

This examination will also determine the appropriate treatment before undergoing a pregnancy program, which consists of; Fertility Work Up Obgyn, Transvaginal Ultrasound and AMH Test to determine female fertility levels.
