Oppo Shows 150W SuperVOOC Technology, Full Charges Only 15 Minutes

Telset.id, Jakarta – The Mobile World Congress (MWC) event was used as a stage by Oppo to introduce the latest SuperVOOC 150W technology and Battery Health Engine. This is the latest generation of SuperVOOC that offers a much shorter charging time than before.

Interestingly, Oppo says that this technology will be embedded in OnePlus smartphones for the first time. Later the smartphone will be released to the public around April or May.

In addition to exhibiting 150W SuperVOOC technology, Oppo also introduced a new technology called Battery Health Engine. Here we will discuss the details of the two new Oppo technologies.

Oppo SuperVOOC 150W

Based on Oppo’s presentation, they said that during their laboratory tests, the 150W SuperVOOC technology could charge a 4.5000 mAh battery from 1 percent to 50 percent in just 5 minutes.

Meanwhile, to charge the battery to 100% takes only 15 minutes. The smartphone used for testing is on, but in Airplane Mode is active.

For comparison, the fast charging technology with 65W power which is also owned by Oppo takes about 40 minutes to charge to 100 percent.

This technology also introduces a new charging adapter that uses GaN technology. This adapter weighs 172 grams and is not much bigger than Oppo’s old adapter.

Although this VOOC technology is an Oppo exclusive, this new charger still supports standard USB and PPS used by smartphones, laptops and other devices.

Battery Health Engine

In addition to introducing new fast charging, Oppo also brings a new technology called Battery Health Engine. This technology relies on a special chip to manage battery usage.

In laboratory tests conducted, the battery was able to maintain 80% of its capacity after 1,600 full charge cycles. This yield is doubled in the industry with an average of 800 cycles.

Battery Health Engine works automatically realtime to monitor the negative electrode to minimize the occurrence of dead lithium ions being trapped and unable to carry a charge. If these conditions occur can reduce battery capacity.

The battery design used by Oppo includes a Solid Electrolyte Interface (SEI), a durable coating on the battery electrodes that protects it from degradation.

Battery Health Engine refers to a special formula for electrolytes that continuously improves the SEI coating while the battery is being charged and discharged. This keeps the electrodes in good condition, which improves battery performance and extends its life.

Previously this technology has also been embedded in the latest Oppo cellphone, namely the Oppo Find X5 series. (HR)
