Persebaya Surabaya Talks About Chances of Winning BRI League 1 After Draw Against Persita

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Persebaya Surabaya failed to win when they faced Persita Tangerang in week 29 of BRI Liga 1. Playing at the Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Gianyar, Bali, Sunday, March 6 2022, the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Persebaya conceded first through Nur Hardianto’s goal in the 40th minute. However, about five minutes later, they were able to reply through Taisei Marukawa.

With this result, Bajul Ijo remains in fifth position in the Liga 1 standings with 55 points. They are five points behind Bali United who top the standings.

Persebaya striker, Samsul Arif Munip admitted, this result made the chances of his team winning the League 1 title a little difficult. However, with five games remaining, he still believes he can still win the title.

“With this draw, it automatically reduces our chances of competing in the championship ladder, but it is still possible. There are five more matches, if we calculate it, we still have a chance,” said Samsul during an online press conference after the match.

“Tonight’s results slightly reduce our presentation for the championship. But we look to the game ahead and hopefully there will be miracles,” he said.

Persebaya assistant coach, Mustaqim, said his team had shown their best game but Persita goalkeeper Rendy Oscario’s performance was quite good. The opposing goalkeeper managed to thwart some of his squad’s chances.

“We are grateful. Indeed, the results are not as we expected. All the players have maximized, but we cannot maximize the opportunities,” said Mustaqim.

In the 29th week of the BRI Liga 1 match, Persita Tangerang goalkeeper Rendy Oscario was repeatedly able to save when Persebaya Surabaya launched his attack. He was even able to hit difficult balls. “Almost all the players want to score goals, but tonight the Persita goalkeeper was outstanding,” Mustaqim added.
