Planning to Have Children in the Next 5 Years? Take These Fertility Enhancing Steps

Suara.com – Some couples may have planned to have children in the next 5 years. This plan certainly requires careful preparation, not only financially but also health and fertility.

In preparing your health and fertility to be ready for pregnancy, you and your partner need not only to eat healthy foods, but also to reduce alcohol and other bad habits.

Fertility expert, Professor Luciano Nardo, also points out the main differences between men and women in preparing for pregnancy.

In general, the health of a man’s sperm depends on his lifestyle choices during the previous 3 or 4 months. This means that men can improve their sperm parameters and fertility levels in a short period of time.

“A man produces sperm on a 90 to 120 day cycle, which means the sperm produced today is not affected by what he drank last night, but a few months earlier,” Prof Nardo said. The Sun.

But for women, it is their lifestyle choices from the very beginning of life that affect their fertility.

All women are born with eggs stored in their ovaries. If they drink excessively or smoke cigarettes, this habit has a cumulative effect and has an impact on their eggs.

Prof Nardo also provides advice on how to increase fertility in half a decade so that the chances of getting pregnant increase, both in men and women.

Here are some things that men can do to increase fertility.

1. Adopt a healthy lifestyle

One study found men who were overweight were 11 percent more likely to have a low sperm count.

Research also found that men who exercised about three hours per week had 40 percent higher sperm counts than those who were inactive.

2. Stop drinking alcohol

The NHS says drinking too much alcohol can affect sperm quality. Prof Nardo said excessive drinking could be a fertility problem in men.

3. Protect the testicles

Sperm develop in the testes, so excessive heat in that area can cause sperm production to be inhibited.

A study shows that bakers and drivers who are exposed to heat are more at risk for fertility problems. If you’re a driver or something like that who gets a lot of heat, make sure you always have time to rest.

4. Semen analysis

Semen analysis is a laboratory test that evaluates sperm count, motility (the way it moves), morphology (the shape of the sperm) as well as detects any abnormalities that require medical treatment. Semen analysis is very important if you are planning to have children.

5. Drugs

Several drugs can affect male fertility, including those given for depression, high blood pressure and heartburn. Non-prescription drugs, such as anabolic steroids for muscle growth, can also harm male fertility. So, check back on the medicines you take if you want to have children.

In women, here are some things that can be done to help increase fertility.

1. Practice healthy habits

Being overweight or underweight can also change the hormones in the body that are needed for the reproductive cycle.

Prof. Nardo also advised all women to always maintain a regular diet and exercise, but not to overdo it. Excessive exercise can inhibit ovulation, which is necessary for pregnancy.

2. Freeze eggs

With age, the number and quality of female eggs will decrease, in contrast to men. Therefore, women need to freeze their healthy eggs if planning to get pregnant in their 30s or 40s.

3. AMH test

Prof Nardo recommends women to have an AMH blood test which gives an indication of ovarian reserve. This medical test is the same as semen analysis in men. However, the examination is more thorough and requires surgery.

The AMH blood test looks for a hormone called anti-mullerian that is produced by the ovaries and can be measured as an indicator of ovarian reserve.
