TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Dusan Vlahovic admits he has mixed feelings ahead of the Fiorentina vs Juventus match in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semifinal on Wednesday night local time or Thursday morning WIB, 3 March 2022.
The Serbian player, 22, will return to the Artemio Franchi Stadium, Florence, against Fiorentina, the club he just left in the January transfer window. Tonight, he will wear the Juve shirt against his former team-mates.
“Yes, I don’t know what to say. I have mixed feelings,” said Dusan Vlahovic speaking to the media after leading Juventus to beat Empoli 3-2 last weekend.
“We’re going there, it’s a football game, that’s all I can say,” said Vlahovic, who previously played for Fiorentina for the past four years.
The presence of Vlahovic in Massimiliano Allegri’s squad immediately had an impact on Juventus’ performance. The Serbian striker quickly blended in with his new team-mates, including Alvaro Morata up front.
Morata is no longer playing the role of a centre-forward and has tended to widen a bit since Vlahovic’s arrival. Even so, the Spanish striker who was on loan from Atletico Madrid admitted that he had no problem with his new role.
The duo of Morata and Vlahovic is expected to be Allegri’s mainstay when Juventus are eyeing their first win in the Coppa Italia semifinal match.
Allegri will still lose a number of players for this match. Giorgio Chiellini, Paulo Dybala, Federco Chiesa, Federico Bernardeshi, Daniele Rugani, Weston McKennie, Denis Zakaria, Alex Sandro and Kaio Jorge, will still be out through injury.
Leonardo Bonucci is available but has to rest so he won’t be playing either. Matthijs de Ligt will be the only available centre-back in the 3-5-2 formation that Allegri might return to.
Marley Ake is expected to start for the first time at senior level at Juventus. He made his debut less than a month ago under Allegri in the away match against Atalanta in Serie A.
