Persija Jakarta News
Persija Jakarta coach Sudirman can return to accompany his team after recovering from Covid-19. He said that the record victory over Persib was a positive factor.
“That is our motivation to give our best. We will fight together until the end. God willing, we will be given a victory,” Sudirman said in a virtual press conference before the match, Monday.
Persija recorded nine wins over Persib from 25 matches since 2007, both in the league and pre-season tournaments. Persib “only” six times beat the rival.
Persija’s latest three wins over Persib have been in succession since 2021, namely twice in the Menpora Cup pre-season tournament and in the first round of the Indonesian League 1 this season.
According to Sudirman, physically, mentally and tactically, the players are ready for this “hot” match. However, he has not been able to confirm who will be fielded in the match, including two foreign mainstays Marko Simic and Marco Motta. Simic and Motta were benched when Persija met Barito Putera on February 23, 2022.
“I have not been able to decide who will play. It will be decided after official practice and hopefully the results of the PCR swab tests for all players are negative,” said Sudirman.
Persija defender Maman Abdurahman also asked his colleagues not to be careless when dealing with Persib. He reminded that the match was important because a win would take them to sixth place in the 2021-2022 Indonesian Liga 1 standings.
“We have to win the game. In general, we are in good shape,” said the 39-year-old footballer.
