Premier League Results, West Ham Vs Wolverhampton 1-0

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Premier League match between West Ham vs Wolverhampton which took place on Sunday 27 February 2022 ended with the score 1-0. Tomas Soucek’s single goal made the home team win three points and move back up to fifth in the standings.

Appearing in front of his own supporters, West Ham appeared immediately kicked off. In the 5th minute David Moyes’s men almost opened the scoring if only Jarod Bowen was able to welcome Aaron Cresswell’s cross.

Twelve minutes later, the combination of Cresswell and Bowen again threatened. This time, Cresswell’s pass was punched by goalkeeper Jose Sa before being headed by Bowen.

Michail Antonio also got a chance in the 30th minute. However, Sa’s shot greeted Tomas Soucek’s pass.

Nine minutes later it was Declan Rice’s turn to make the visitors almost fall behind. Unfortunately, the ball was still slightly wide of the Wolverhampton Wanderers goal.

Wolverhampton recorded only one chance in the first half. South Korean winger Hwang Hee-chan had his chance to open fire after receiving a free-kick from Francisco Trincao, but his shot went wide next to Lukasz Fabianski’s goal.

West Ham’s deadlock was finally solved in the second half, in the 59th minute to be exact. Tomas Soucek’s goal came from a cross that Cresswell released to the far post. Michail Antonio who received the ball directed it into the middle of the penalty box where Soucek was waiting for him and put the Hammers 1-0 up.

Winning 1-0 did not make West Ham satisfied. They continued to pound the Wolverhampton goal and had created a number of opportunities, for example in the 69th minute. However, this time, Jose Sa managed to ward off Bowen’s shot, which received feedback from Manuel Lanzini.

Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves almost drew the score in the 88th minute. The Portuguese footballer fired a hard shot that made Fabianski have to make a brilliant save.

Unfortunately the efforts of Bruno Lage’s men to equalize did not bear fruit. The 1-0 score closed the West Ham vs Wolves match. West Ham also rose to fifth place in the Premier League standings with 45 points from 27 matches. Their position is not too safe because Arsenal have the same number of points and have only played 24 times. As for Wolves, the defeat meant they had to settle for eighth position with 42 points from 26 matches.
