TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Emilio Audero Mulyadi became coach Shin Tae-yong’s first choice to be naturalized to the Indonesian national team. If willing, the player with the goalkeeper position at Sampdoria will become the fourth player to be naturalized.
Emilio or Emil Audero is a footballer who has Indonesian descent. He currently plays for Serie A club Sampdoria. His father, Edy Mulyadi, is from Indonesia and his mother is Antonella Audero from Italy.
He was born in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara on January 18, 1997. Then in 1998, Emilio moved to Italy with his mother.
Emilio joined the Juventus academy at the age of 11. Then on 30 November 2014, he was called up by Massimiliano Allegri, the Juventus coach.
In the 2014-2015 season, he was called up several times as a reserve goalkeeper. In that season he also signed a professional contract with Juventus when he was 18 years old.
Juventus’ third goalkeeper, Rubinho left the club in 2016. Emilio was officially appointed as the third goalkeeper, after Gianluigi Buffon and Neto for the 2016-17 season.
He made his professional debut with Juventus at the age of 20. Emilio played when Juventus beat Bologna 2-1 in the last match of the 2016-17 Serie A season.
Rarely had the opportunity to appear at Juventus, Emilio was then loaned to Venice. He was loaned out on 8 July 2018 while Venezia was playing in Serie B.
On 17 July 2019, Emilio was loaned to Sampdoria for a full season with an option to buy permanently. Sampdoria then made Emilio permanent on 26 February 2019 for a transfer value of 20 million Euros. Emilio had a chance to experience playing for the Italy U-20 national team on September 4, 2017. In that match, Italy beat Slovenia 4-1.
Emilio’s name warmed after PSSI Executive Committee (Exco) member Hasani Abdulgani made a status on his Instagram account about the naturalization of football players.
“Tomorrow night in Europe or Thursday morning in Indonesia, our colleagues (agents) already have dinner arrangements with the manager and players that coach Shin Tae Yong is interested in. Which of Emil Audero Mulyadi and Jordi Wehrmann is the 4th descendant of the national team?” Hasani wrote Tuesday, March 1, 2022.
