TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – PSSI ensures that the Indonesian national team does not play on FIFA matchday or FIFA matchday scheduled for 21-29 March 2022. PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan said the decision was made based on a request from the national team coach Shin Tae-yong.
Iriawan stated that according to Shin the FIFA match in March 2022 was ineffective and inefficient. “In addition, Shin also has to lead the U-20 national team training camp in South Korea in preparation for the U-20 World Cup in 2023,” said the figure who is usually called Iwan Bule, Tuesday, March 1, 2022.
Iriawan said that the federation had actually prepared opponents for the Indonesian national team in the FIFA matchday March 2022. PSSI had already established communication with the Indonesian National Team.several countries, such as Bosnia Herzegovina and Slovakia.
However, on the other hand PSSI does not want to interfere with coach Shin Tae-yong’s work plans for the national team. “PSSI understands Shin’s request and supports all of his programs for the achievement of the Indonesian national team,” said Iriawan.
Meanwhile, Shin Tae-yong emphasized that he had indeed requested that there be no FIFA senior national team match in March 2022 because he wanted to focus on preparing for the U-20 national team in South Korea. The national team is being trained to be ready to compete in the 2023 U-20 World Cup. Several friendly matches are also being prepared in South Korea, including against the South Korean U-20 national team.
The U-20 national team is scheduled to leave for South Korea on March 7, 2022 after previously training in Jakarta from March 2, 2022. They are scheduled to be in South Korea until April 2022.
