Saudi Arabia Removes Quarantine, Indonesian Umrah Rules Will Be Adjusted

Jakarta, IDN Times – The Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) will harmonize regulations related to the policy of the Government of Saudi Arabia to revoke the provisions for quarantine and PCR tests. This rule also applies to Umrah pilgrims from outside Saudi Arabia.

“Regarding Saudi Arabia’s decision to revoke most of its protocol policies, especially with regard to quarantine and PCR, there will also be consequences for the policy of organizing Umrah in Indonesia. I am optimistic that there will be an alignment of policies soon. Moreover, Indonesia is currently also starting to make policy adjustments quarantine period,” said Director General of Hajj and Umrah (PHU) of the Ministry of Religion, Hilman Latief in his statement, Monday (7/3/2022).

1. One door Umrah rules will be adjusted

Hilman explained that the Ministry of Religion would also adjust the rules for the one-door umrah. During the pandemic, Umrah pilgrims only depart via Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

“Policy one gate policy or one door for the departure of Umrah pilgrims from the Hajj hostel will also be adjusted,” he said.

2. Indonesia is expected to abolish quarantine rules

Furthermore, Hilman hopes that the quarantine rules for Umrah pilgrims when they return to Indonesia will no longer apply. However, he said, it needed a deeper study.

“So, don’t get there, there is no need for quarantine, we are still forced to quarantine. Or don’t go there, there is no need for PCR, we have to use PCR for departure, and so on,” he said.

Previously, the government of Saudi Arabia began today revoking quarantine rules, PCR tests, and the obligation to wear masks in open places. This was confirmed by the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Jeddah, Eko Hartono.
