Teco said ahead of the Bali United vs Persija Jakarta match at BRI League 1 Sunday

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Bali United vs Persija Jakarta will be presented in the 29th week of the BRI Liga 1 match on Sunday, March 6, 2022. The duel of the two teams will take place at the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Stadium, Bali, starting at 20.45 WIB, broadcast by the Indosiar television station.

This match against Persija is a test for Bali United to maintain its position at the top of the Liga 1. Currently, Serdadu Tridatu is at the top of the standings with 60 points, three points ahead of Persib Bandung, which is below it.

Meanwhile, Persija currently ranks eighth with 38 points from 27 matches played. The last game, they gave up 2-0 from Persib.

Bali United coach, Stefano Cugurra, has prepared tactics to face his former team. Before moving to Bali United in 2019, this Brazilian tactician coached the team nicknamed the Kemayoran Tigers in 2017-2018.

“Persija are a good team and have fanatical supporters. We have a program for recovery so that players don’t get injured and we also have tactical training for everyone to be ready to fight Persija,” said Teco, Stefano’s nickname to TempoFriday, March 4, 2022.

Teco thinks Persija is good with a lot of young players. According to him, their performance in the pre-season tournament, Menpora Cup, in March-April last year, was good so that they managed to become champions by defeating Persib Bandung in the final. At that time, they were led by coach Sudirman.

When entering the League 1 competition, Persija made a change of coach. They recruited the Italian coach, Angelo Alessio. However, the former Juventus assistant coach was sacked at the beginning of the second half, last January, because he was deemed unable to improve the team’s performance. They then appointed Sudirman to be the head coach.

“In the Menpora Cup, he played well and won. After that, he changed to a European coach. Even though he has a good CV and quality, it takes time to adapt in Indonesia,” said Teco.

“Now the coach has returned to the coach who won the Menpora Cup, he who brought many quality young players to Persija,” he said.

Persija is one of Bali United’s tough opponents in the remaining six matches in Liga 1. Serdadu Tridatu will also meet Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya.

Bali United must not slip up in the remaining matches if they want to win the second title of Liga 1. The competition with four other top teams, Persib Bandung, Arema FC, Bhayangkara FC, and Persebaya Surabaya, is still fierce. The difference in points between the top five teams entering the 29th week is tight.

Persib Bandung is in second place with 57 points, three points adrift of Bali United. Meanwhile, Arema FC and Bhayangkara FC, both scored 55 points, and Persebaya with 54 points.

Bali United, which previously won the Liga 1 title in 2019, has the opportunity to add to its collection of trophies from the country’s highest caste football competition if it wins the BRI Liga 1 2021-2022.
