There is something more effective than the naturalization of national team players

Jakarta, IDN Times – Chairman of the House of Representatives Commission X, Syaiful Huda, admitted to rejecting the naturalization process that is often carried out in Indonesian sports, including football. However, he also tried to provide a solution to this problem.

Syaiful explained, one way that can be taken to minimize naturalization is to use big data. Through this big data, later the club or national team will have no trouble finding players.

“The issue of naturalization has pros and cons. For me, it’s contra. However, the solution is to make this counter productive, now big data can be the solution,” said Syaiful at Twin House Blok M, Wednesday (9/3/2022).

Syaiful said that through big data, clubs and PSSI could find and monitor talented players. This existing data will provide input to the club and PSSI, both in terms of track record, origin, and achievements.

“On the recruitment level, we haven’t talked about coaching yet, big data can talk and find the profiles of the players needed. I’m sure Indonesia has a lot of stock of players. It’s just not being explored. The effect is naturalization,” said Syaiful.

Regarding big data, it is stated in the Sports Law which was passed on February 15, 2022, namely in articles 84, 85, 86, and 87. This law is a revision of the National Sports System Law.

Through this law, there is hope that everything related to the development of football in Indonesia must be based on data. No exception, this also applies to the recruitment of footballers for clubs and the Indonesian national team.

Syaiful’s words seemed to flick PSSI which is now back in the naturalization process. There are already three names in the process of being naturalized, namely Jordi Amat, Sandy Walsh, and Shayne Pattynama.

Apart from these names, there are also the names of Emil Audero Mulyadi and Jordy Wehrmann who are also being pursued by PSSI to undergo naturalization. This process itself was carried out at the request of Shin Tae Yong, the coach of the Indonesian national team.
