“They are now opting for a more targeted approach, aligning attacks with the latest local trends and holidays and creating emails phishing or personalized fake websites,” he said.

On the big day, people usually shop online to fulfill their needs. This moment is used by cyberattackers to create various modes of fraud.

Siang Tiong also reminded the public to be more aware of various fraudulent modes of online shopping promos spread across SMS, telephone, and internet.

“We urge the Indonesian people to be especially vigilant about sales announcements and attractive offers delivered via email, text messages, social media posts, or even phone calls,” he added.
