Urgent! Parents Must Know the Long-Term and Short-Term Impact of Stunting on Children

Suara.com – Stunting is a developmental disorder that occurs in children. In this condition, children experience chronic nutritional problems that affect their height.

There are short-term and long-term effects of stunting. Lecturer of Nutrition Study Program at Esa Unggul University & Co-Founder of Sahabat Gizi Community, Anugrah Novianti, explained the impact.

According to Anugrah, short-term stunting in children can affect cognitive, motor, and verbal development. So this can make children not optimal.

Long Term Impact

In her presentation, Anugrah said that stunting can have a long-term impact on the child. Starting from a posture that is not optimal as an adult (shorter), increasing the risk of obesity, reduced learning performance, and suboptimal productivity.

“The long-term impact is that later in adulthood, the growth will not be optimal. It can even be at risk for obesity, “said Anugrah further.
