TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Manchester United are reportedly eyeing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo. The 23-year-old Nigerian has become one of the most dangerous strikers in Serie A.
Osimhen has been impressive this season under Luciano Spalletti. He has scored 11 goals in 22 appearances despite being sidelined for two months with a cheekbone injury.
Since returning to the team in January, the Nigerian has scored twice in his six appearances. He was reportedly on Ralf Rangnick’s radar.
According to journalists Rai SportCiro Venerato, Osimhen are United’s main targets to replace Ronaldo in the summer and Napoli want at least £84 million in ransom for the forward.
Ronaldo’s playing time could drop drastically if the Red Devils managed to bring Osimhen to Old Trafford.
Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford last summer. The Portuguese superstar returned to Manchester United last summer on a contract until 2023. He earns £480,000 per week making him the highest-paid Premier League player.
His performances have received a lot of attention after only recording one goal in his last 10 matches. Despite his slump, Ronaldo remains United’s top scorer this season with 15 goals. Bruno Fernandes is second with nine goals.
Osimhen under Spalletti at Napoli became a focal point in the team. He is a clinical striker, having scored seven league goals out of an expected 7.3 this season.
He averages 7.25 touches of the ball in the opponent’s penalty area per 90 minutes. The data showed that he was often in the right position and made regular close-range shots. His shooting stats support that, as he is averaging 4.12 shots per 90 minutes this season/
The Nigerian forward is also adept at engaging his team-mates in the game, creating 2.60 shots per 90 minutes and 4.12 progressive strikes per 90 minutes.
The data shows Osimhen is a creative striker who has a keen eye for scoring goals and quick feet in the penalty box.
Napoli seem to want to secure Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer market. With his contract remaining until 2025, the Italian club are reportedly seeking a ransom of up to 100 million euros. Manchester United have to pay a high price if they want to bring him to Old Trafford.
