Suara.com – The omicron variant of Covid-19 is certain to be able to evade the body’s immune system, including antibodies from vaccines. Therefore, people infected with omicron may experience mild to moderate symptoms, even though they have been vaccinated.

Scientists have proven that the symptoms of each variant of Covid-19 cause illness are different from one another. The condition is caused by antibodies from the vaccine and immunity obtained from previous infections.

Regarding the omicron variant, the most common symptoms for people who have been vaccinated can include sore throat, runny nose, constant sneezing, coughing, headache, muscle aches, and nausea.

Studies in the UK have revealed that people infected with the sub-variant of omicron BA.2, also known as stealth omicron, show gut-related symptoms. So that when infected, patients complain of diseases related to the intestines, such as nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, heartburn, and bloating.

“We know that this virus spreads to different parts of the body. It’s possible that Omicron or some other variant attacks the intestines. And this won’t read (the swab test) in the nose. So you could have an intestinal infection but it doesn’t look positive,” said Professor Tim Spector. ZOE Covid Symptoms Study, quoted from Live Mint.

He added, so far there have been as many as 25 symptoms related to omicron that patients have reported being infected with Covid-19.

The most common symptoms include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat or hoarseness, stuffy or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea , high temperature.

Then continuous cough, backache, decreased appetite, delirium, heartburn, bloating, sleep paralysis, skin rash, night sweats, Covid tongue, Covid toes or fingers, chest pain, and stomach pain.

Experts suggest that omicron patients should report a variety of symptoms because of their vaccination status and acquired immunity from previous infections.
