Spotify Main Sponsor of FC Barcelona, Camp Nou Stadium Changes Name

Telset.id, Jakarta FC Barcelona Stadium will reportedly change its name to Spotify Camp Nou. This name change follows the entry of Spotify to become the main sponsor of FC Barcelona.

The inclusion of Spotify as a sponsor is a breath of fresh air for the Catalan club. The reason is, FC Barcelona is now hit by a financial crisis due to debt that swells to more than USD 1 billion or Rp. 14.2 trillion.

This best music streaming application poured out sponsorship funds of USD 307 million or IDR 4.3 trillion during the partnership with the FC Barcelona club.

The partnership starts in July 2022 and there will be slight changes in terms of the sponsorship writing on the jersey and also the name of the stadium. The plan is that Spotify’s name is in Jersey and replaces e-commerce from Japan, Rakuten.

Then, Spotify also entered the stadium name. This means that the name of the FC Barcelona stadium will change its name to Spotify Camp Nou. Please note that this is the first time Barcelona have included a sponsor’s name in a stadium.

During this time the name Camp Nou has long been known by Barcelona fans and has always been an icon of the Catalan team.

Although this is something new in team management, the Barcelona member assembly has given the green light so that it will enter into a joint agreement between Barcelona and Spotify in April.

On the other hand, Spotify believes this partnership will benefit artists from all over the world, because Camp Nou can be used to introduce their works in stadiums.

“Spotify provides a global stage for players and artists at Spotify Camp Nou. We will create a new platform to help artists interact with Barcelona’s global fan community,” said Spotify.

The presence of Spotify as a sponsor of FC Barcelona proves that the streaming company has good finances, so it is able to invest its money into the football industry.

However, Spotify’s move has been criticized, because the trillions of rupiah should be used to increase royalty payments for artists who release their songs on Spotify. (NM/MF)
