Good News, Ministry of Health Gets Help to Build 6 Special Hospitals for Mothers and Children: Can Help Reduce Stunting!

Suara.com – Good news for Indonesia because it received assistance for the construction of 6 maternal and child hospitals. Later, this hospital can help reduce maternal and child mortality, prevent stunting, as well as maximize Indonesia’s demographic bonus in 2030.

The Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, explained that the number of childhood cancer and cancer in women is quite high in Indonesia, so it needs special attention.

“We will experience a demographic peak in 2030, which can improve the economy. But this demographic has a threat, namely high maternal and child mortality,” said Minister of Health Budi during a visit at Dharmais Cancer Hospital, Saturday (26/3/2022).

So this threat needs to be minimized so that demographics do not turn into a boomerang curse, because young children and women who are prospective mothers are sick, so the demographic bonus cannot be achieved.

“But a lot of people talk we can be a demographic bonus, but it can also be a demographic curse. Why? Because we are 24 percent stunted. Now we have a lot of babies, but their IQ is only 80 percent below standard, that’s not a bonus, it’s curse,” said the Minister of Health.

As a result, the construction of 6 maternal and child hospitals assisted by the IsDB Group funding health investment, is considered to be able to help prevent the demographic bonus from turning into a curse.

This maternal and child hospital construction project will begin in 2022, and is predicted to be completed in 2024. The budget provided by the IsDB Loan is USD 261,718,000.

The rest will be met by the Indonesian government, through the Vertical Hospital BLU budget of USD 31,361,000 or around Rp. 3.7 trillion.
